Three-channel projection
2006
16 minutes

A multi-channel choreography of the banal, useless moments of life. These are moments of our individual lives that don't have social labels or clear purpose, that fall outside social roles and social time. They are portraits of in-between time, or the 'meantime', the time before the future.

The title, taken from anthropologist Bronislaw Malinowski, refers to attempts at cataloguing life, which seem unable to make room for these periods of wavering and pacing about. In a way then, this is an anti-anthropology of being, a bare record of our relationship to time itself.

The moments we recorded are not staged. They take place in a transitory space, seen through hotel room windows, in an aestheticization of voyeurism - except here nothing happens.
